ESMI visits Flores and Graciosa

This is the second 2024 inter-islands trip by members of the Azorean group: early in July, researchers traveled to the island of Flores to perform ESMI visits. Flores Island has been linked to the history of Machado-Joseph disease/spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 following the 1976 description of the Joseph family, which lived in the United States but traced its origins to Flores Island.

Inter-island ESMI visits are possible with the support of Fundo Regional para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Government of the Azores).
